B5Tools help centre
Plain-language help for connecting WordPress, managing domains, understanding quota, and handling billing.
What is a Connected Site?
A Connected Site is one real public WordPress website allowed to use your B5Tools account. Free and Pro currently include one live public Connected Site.
Local, staging, preview, and temporary versions of that same website can be attached for development and migration. They are not separate production websites.
- WordPress connects without asking you to copy a live API key.
- Credentials stay tied to the site they were issued for.
- You can rotate an exposed credential without rebuilding the assessment.
Can I use localhost, staging, or a preview URL?
Yes, when it belongs to the same website. Common examples include localhost, a staging subdomain, a managed-host preview address, or a temporary domain used before launch.
A development host uses a separate test credential and development allowance. It must not be used as a production workaround. If a staging site becomes the real site, use the domain replacement flow.
How do I move from staging or change the live domain?
Open B5Tools in WordPress on the new installation and start the reconnect flow. Confirm the detected domain, then choose the existing Connected Site when prompted. B5Tools will treat the change as an alias or live-domain replacement according to the host.
Your WordPress settings, local analytics, saved results, leads, PDF design, and WooCommerce mappings remain in WordPress. Domain replacement changes the platform connection; it does not erase that local data.
- Open WordPress admin on the new or production site.
- Open B5Tools and choose reconnect.
- Confirm the detected domain and existing site.
- Return to WordPress and test one assessment.
What happens if I cancel Pro?
Cancellation stops the next renewal. Paid features normally remain available until the end date shown in Billing.
After paid access ends, the account returns to Free limits. The Connected Site remains recorded and B5Tools does not delete local WordPress settings or data solely because Pro ended. You can manage cancellation, renewal, payment details, invoices, and receipts through the billing portal.
Stripe Managed Payments handles transaction-level support. B5Tools handles product and plugin support.
What happens when I reach the monthly quota?
New scoring requests pause when the applicable monthly allowance is used. Scoring resumes when the next usage period begins or when B5Tools support applies an authorised quota adjustment.
B5Tools does not return a lower-quality score after quota is exhausted. WordPress visitors receive a non-technical unavailable message, while the site owner can see the quota state in B5Tools admin and the platform dashboard.
Why does the plugin connect to B5Tools.ly?
The plugin calls B5Tools.ly to retrieve assessment items and result content, score submitted answers, check plan features and quota, and verify the Connected Site.
The scoring API processes answers to return a result and does not write raw answers to the B5Tools application database by default. The platform keeps service metadata needed for quota, security, diagnostics, and aggregate product analytics.
Why do result emails need WordPress email or SMTP?
Visitor result emails are sent by your WordPress site through wp_mail. B5Tools does not send those visitor emails from its platform.
Many new VPS, container, and custom hosting installations cannot deliver WordPress mail reliably until SMTP or a transactional email service is configured. If the B5Tools test email fails, configure the site's mail service and run the test again.
Why does WordPress say the site is not connected?
The credential may have been revoked, the site may have been cloned, the domain may have changed, or the credential may belong to another Connected Site. Billing, quota, or account suspension can also require attention.
- Open B5Tools in WordPress and read the account status message.
- Use reconnect for a cloned installation or changed credential.
- Use replace domain when the same live site moved to a new address.
- Use the platform Sites page to rotate, disconnect, or inspect the site.
Can I use one account on multiple public websites?
Free and Pro currently include one live public Connected Site. Development aliases for that same website are included and do not create another live site.
Separate public websites for different brands, clients, or projects are not currently included. Additional site packs and agency plans are not available yet.
What should I tell visitors in my privacy notice?
Explain that the site uses B5Tools.ly to calculate and return the assessment result, and that answers are sent to the hosted scoring service for that purpose. Also describe any local progress, saved-result, analytics, lead capture, result-email, CRM, or webhook features you enable.
Your notice must match your actual configuration, visitors, lawful basis, and jurisdiction. The B5Tools Privacy Policy describes the platform's role but does not replace your website's own notice.
